Course Objectives

This course will provide an update on the current standard of care and new approaches for treating head and neck cancer. It is designed for medical and radiation oncologists; surgeons; otolaryngologists; dentists and other interested clinicians. Participants will gain insight on developing appropriate treatment plans for patients, experimental therapeutic approaches in development, and new discoveries in the biology of the disease. In addition to hearing about medical, surgical, and radiation advances, attendees will also learn practical tips for pain and symptom management.

About the Head and Neck Oncology Program at Dana-Farber/ Brigham and Women's Cancer Center

The Head and Neck Oncology Program at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center is the region's most comprehensive multidisciplinary service dedicated exclusively to patients with head and neck cancers. Specialists evaluate and treat all types and stages of head and neck cancers, from early lesions to the rarest and most challenging cases. Through this program, referring physicians and their patients have access to highly experienced clinicians from numerous specialties, including head and neck surgery, medical and radiation oncology, dentistry, oral surgery, reconstructive surgery, nutrition services, social work, speech, voice, and swallowing therapy. The program is active in both basic research which helps improve the understanding of the biology of the disease as well as clinical research aimed at developing innovative new treatments for patients.
